Be strong and courageous

Joshua 1:7-9 NIV "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord  your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua was chosen by God and was given instructions to be successul in what God chose Him to do. It is sad to see that people don't understand or believe that- Success in God is the greatest success we can have in life. We seek success in life, even pray for success but often fail to follow the seemingly easy instructions from God. When we do not succeed in things, we blame God. Good prayer? Bad prayer?

Today I heard people saying at church, "oh he or she can pray very well!". Hmmm....when I heard this statement, it caught my attention. I stopped and wondered for a while what was wrong. What does it mean by praying well? Isn't it just having a conversation with God? How can a person know it was "good"? Some people don't see beyond the "great prayers"- which comes from a vibrant relationship with God yet care about what words are being used and how much scripture was being quoted or even how enthusiastically the prayer was prayed. A lot of people are afraid to pray because they think they can't say what they are supposed to say and are afraid of making mistakes. Why afraid of making mistakes when it is just a conversation with God?
