Good prayer? Bad prayer?

Today I heard people saying at church, "oh he or she can pray very well!". Hmmm....when I heard this statement, it caught my attention. I stopped and wondered for a while what was wrong. What does it mean by praying well? Isn't it just having a conversation with God? How can a person know it was "good"?

Some people don't see beyond the "great prayers"- which comes from a vibrant relationship with God yet care about what words are being used and how much scripture was being quoted or even how enthusiastically the prayer was prayed.

A lot of people are afraid to pray because they think they can't say what they are supposed to say and are afraid of making mistakes. Why afraid of making mistakes when it is just a conversation with God?

Last minute

I think a lot of us like to do things in the last minute. I am organising for a group of 14 people including me to go to the football match. After all the hard work, two weeks ago I finally managed to book the tickets for everyone, however, yesterday some people told me they can not go today. This is annoying because everyone said they were going, but just the day before they tell you that they cannot go. Even though the tickets were free, but there are still a lot of people wishing to go but do not have tickets. They are taking this for granted. Moreover, if they told me a few days earlier, I might be able to find people who may be interested to go. Through this experience, I learn to be more reliable and trustworthy when promising someone for something. If there is anything urgent, I will try to tell the person as soon as possible, but NOT last minute. I admire people who work as an event organiser, who constantly have to face all these last minute frustrations!

Be strong and courageous

Joshua 1:7-9 NIV "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord  your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua was chosen by God and was given instructions to be successul in what God chose Him to do. It is sad to see that people don't understand or believe that- Success in God is the greatest success we can have in life. We seek success in life, even pray for success but often fail to follow the seemingly easy instructions from God. When we do not succeed in things, we blame God. God told us through Joshua, there are 2 ways to be successful 1) ...

I can't hear the voice of God

A few friends have told me that sometimes when they pray, they can't hear the voice of God. Here are a few reasons why God's voice can't be heard. 1. Your heart is "noisy"!      When you are in a state of chaos, it is difficult to hear the voice of God. If there are too many things going on in your mind, then God's voice only becomes one of the noises. 2. You may want to spend more time with God. Are you spending time conversing with God? Do you know the more you talk with someone, the more you can recognize one's voice? It is the same likewise with God. The more you spend time with God, the better you are able to recogize His voice and the clearer you will understand how He speaks. 3. You are only looking for what you want to hear. God may have already spoken to you, but it is contrary to your desire, since it isn't something you are seeking, you categorize the voice as the devil's voice. When you hear something that does not match with your ...
