MEM mission team

It's great to be able to have a mission team coming to our church and work with us to preach the gospel. In fact, I have learnt a lot from them. I see their passion in Christ, their prayfulness, their humbleness, and their servant heart. They have a really full schedule, but I never see them complaining, never see them feeling tired. Whenever I see them I see energy, enthusiasm and smiles.

This makes me see what a real Christian is like and should be like. I see the power of prayer, the power of God working in their lives and the lives of the people who come to hear the gospel. I realised that relying on God is the only key to great glory for our Lord Jesus Christ. It's not about our own effort, but God's. Praying can move a mountain, but our own effort and strength can do nothing, especially move people's hearts. Preaching the gospel is not easy, it requires a lot of time and effort. However, without praying and submitting the work of mission to God, everything becomes obsolete.

We need to pray, to connect with God, to ask the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts, minds, souls as well as in the unbelievers' hearts.

Revelation from sickness

I had a terrible tummy pain yesterday. The pain was so intense I vomitted and lost strength to speak. During the pain, I could not stop thinking and asking God why this kind of suffering fell on to me and wondered if I had done anything that caused this pain to fall on me. However I felt God reminded me of a promise in the bible that it was not because what sin my family or I have committed, but this happened so that the glory of God may be revealed. It was so much easier to blame on so many other things. When something terrible happens, we as humans like to find reasons and causes to justify the result. So we often start imagining and brainstorming the possiblities of the reasons that caused the problems. I did the same, during the pain, I started going over my family members and myself and guessed if any of us have dobe anything that caused God to anger hence rain down punishment on me. My conversations with God became honest and straightforward during my pain. I began to ask God...

Was I right or wrong?

Yesterday I had very special encounter. It turned out to be a breathtaking one at the end and in fact I could be in danger, but I think I don't regret doing it. Around 12pm, I was walking towards the train station from home to go to the city. Along the way, I passed a lady who stood in the middle of the footpath looking dizzy, her head was down and wasn't standing properly. Though it was just a glance, I continued to walk for 5 metres, the image of the lady still remained in my head, in just a few seconds, a lot of coversations went on in my head. "Stop? No stop? You are going to be late for train. Go back to check up the lady." At the end I stopped, turned around and walked back towards the lady knowing I would be late for the train I was catching. I approached her and asked "Are you ok? Do you need a hand?" Nodded and shook her head. While talking to her, I saw two fresh wounds on her face, one on the corner of her right eyebrow and one on the edge of her ...

Good prayer? Bad prayer?

Today I heard people saying at church, "oh he or she can pray very well!". Hmmm....when I heard this statement, it caught my attention. I stopped and wondered for a while what was wrong. What does it mean by praying well? Isn't it just having a conversation with God? How can a person know it was "good"? Some people don't see beyond the "great prayers"- which comes from a vibrant relationship with God yet care about what words are being used and how much scripture was being quoted or even how enthusiastically the prayer was prayed. A lot of people are afraid to pray because they think they can't say what they are supposed to say and are afraid of making mistakes. Why afraid of making mistakes when it is just a conversation with God?
